There are sandals you wear to compliment an outfit, and there are others you build the outfit around.
You know what I mean?
Yeah I know it’s Fall and there’s some unwritten rule that you can’t wear sandals as it gets colder but let’s just forget about that. I believe style is an art and, to be an artist, breaking the rules is required.
While I attended a private shopping party with a few of my friends, my photographer brought this pair of sandals to me and said, ‘These are so you.’
I smiled and then shook my head. “Really, Susie?”
I wasn’t mad at her. I was just trying my best not to buy the entire store, plus I needed to be in my new hubby’s good graces and respect our financial goals.
She held them in front of my face, giggled and said “They’re only $10…and you get 20% off.”
Well I wasn’t going to pass that deal up!
Now I’m not some cheap skate. I just had a specific mission and sandals were not on the list. But I learned from my last shopping trip with my homegirl that she has an eye for things that I miss, so I tried them on.
And of course, she was right!
They were perfect! Fit into my wardrobe and everything.
Now they probably weren’t sandals I could wear everyday but the statement they made it worthwhile even if I would have to make them the foundation of an outfit.
Have you ever created an outfit based on a statement piece that you loved?
