What blog platform should you choose?
The one that matches your budget and blogging goals.
To help with that decision, here are the best blog platforms, in my opinion.
The Best Blog Platforms Available Today
Whether you’ve downloaded the Launch Your Dream Blog checklist, or you’ve read how to start a successful blog, you’re aware that there are several blogging platforms available today.
Here’s a list of the best ones and what you need to know about them.
(1) WordPress.org
This is my favorite and the platform that I use for my blog!
As stated on their website, 35% of the web uses WordPress. It’s a powerful content management software that gives content creators the freedom to create whatever they want.
You can use free or paid themes plus endless plugins and code to customize your online presence. And another major benefit of using this platform is that you will own your content.
If you’re planning on starting a profitable blog, this is the way to go!
Just remember, in order to set up WordPress.org, you have to start with a hosting service like Bluehost!
(2) WordPress.com
First things first, this option should not be confused with WordPress.org!
The rules for WordPress.com are very different.
WordPress.com offers a basic website with hosting for free and a domain that looks like yourname.wordpress.com. All you need to do is sign up for an account.
It’s a great place to start! Especially, if your budget doesn’t allow for the self-hosted option.
However, be aware that in order to use additional features to customize on WordPress.com, you’ll need to pay for upgrades.
You also won’t be able to use plugins like Yoast SEO or access backend code or files.

(3) Squarespace
A favorite among creatives, Squarespace helps you “look like an expert right from the start.”
It’s an all-in-one website builder service, complemented by 24/7 customer support, hosting and website security for an affordable monthly fee.
There are also free and paid themes available plus the option to try the platform for 14 days free!
If your goal is to create a professional website that has a creative portfolio aesthetic, this is the option for you.
(4) Weebly
Weebly, another one of the best blog platforms, was the website builder I used to launch my first blog.
What sets this platform apart is the user’s ability to drag and drop features in order to create a page on their site.
You can start a blog that works on different types of devices and can be shared on several social media platforms for free!
My suggestion is to use this tool to get started!
(5) Wix
Another drag and drop website builder, Wix offers the aspiring blogger hundreds of website templates with great hosting and up to 500 MB of storage.
Like some of the other options I mentioned above, you can start for free and then upgrade to a premium plan for more features, like a customized domain.
(6) Blogger
A subsidiary of Google, Blogger is a great way to start a free blog right away!
The benefit of using this blog platform option is that it’s easily integrated with Google Ad Sense – a great way to get paid for displaying Google Ads.
This is another great option for those with a tight budget.
(7) Medium
If you’re an avid writer, Medium is the best blog platform for you!
It was created by Twitter’s founders and is focused on microblogging, aka mini-posts.
Please note, though, that this platform does not include customization.
What it does include is a way to get paid for your content when subscribed Medium readers read your work, rather than by advertisers.
Definitely, something to consider!
