Would you be interested in sharing your savvy ways of shopping T.J.Maxx stores with our followers?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!
Ok wait, let me calm down.
Begins responding to email.
Yes! Absolutely!
I couldn’t believe that I had just been asked to collaborate with one of my favorite companies. It felt like a dream! In fact, it still feels that way.
But besides my fangirling, I loved the challenge I had been given, aka the #Maxx50Challenge.
The #Maxx50Challenge
It sounds complicated but the concept was very simple.
Since adulting for most requires careful strategy and adherence to a budget, the #Maxx50Challenge posed the question:
Can you find everything you need for an upcoming event, party or trip with only $50?
Let that sink in for a minute!
Needless to say, even though I was thrilled to participate, I felt a little intimidated.
I needed a killer outfit for a friend’s summer wedding, and I knew I could find it at T.J.Maxx. However, lately, I’d had the tendency to choose the pricier clothing items in the store. Would I actually find one I liked within that limit?

How To Get A Killer Outfit At T.J.Maxx For $50
A couple of days later, around mid-July, I walked into my local T.J.Maxx on Polaris Parkway in Columbus, OH. My phone was charged. My photographer was with me. And I had my game face on. It was time to do this!
First, I looked through the tops section, and within 5 minutes, I found a handful of flowy options that I felt would be perfect. The first was a one-shoulder ruffle top in a floral print.
The second was an off the shoulder top with criss cross straps.
Then I browsed the pants selection. I mean, I couldn’t wear a top without a bottom lol!
I picked up a pair of teal jogger pants to match the off the shoulder top, and also added a pair of peep palazzo pants to my cart. Ironically, the palazzo pants matched another top I had discovered.
Next, I headed to the dresses section because I had to keep my options open.
It didn’t take much time before I added two more styles to my cart. This time, though, I chose a floor length striped dress and a high low wrap maxi.
Now it was off to the dressing room.
After grabbing my number from the sales associate, I hung up all my outfit options. It was time to figure out what actually looked good on me vs. what just looked good on the hanger.
First I tried on the floral off the shoulder top with the teal joggers.
Even though I loved the top, I felt like the pants were too tight and sporty for the occasion. So back to the dressing room I went.
I swapped the joggers with the salmon peep palazzo pants. And I immediately fell in love!
But I didn’t want to commit to the look before I tried on the dresses I had chosen.
After two quick changes, I realized that neither flattered my body the way I preferred so I returned to the look that had stolen my heart.
Now to put the pricing to the test!
Off to the cashier I went.
Upon my arrival, I gave the associate my selection and patiently waited for my grand total. Would I actually stay within my $50 limit?
After a few minutes, the T.J. Maxx associate looked at me and said,
That will be 48.35.
I almost cried! I did it!
Mission accomplished!
But that’s only half of the story.
Besides getting a killer outfit, I was reminded of a valuable lesson.
You don’t need a lot of money to be stylish. Sometimes all the media we consume makes us feel like we need to have a million bucks to slay. But the truth is, you only need to shop smart.
And T.J. Maxx is the place to do that! Whether it’s online or in one of their brick and mortar stores.
