Rain, rain, go away
Come again some other day
We want to go outside and play
Come again some other day
Do you remember singing that nursery rhyme when you woke up as a child to the pitter patter sound of raindrops on your bedroom window?
Funny right?!
Those childhood days seem so long ago for me but this nursery rhyme is still not a far cry from how I feel when I have to get dressed when it’s wet outside.
If you replaced the third line with the words “We want to go outside and slay” you would have captured my thought process when I wake up and I hear the sounds of a torrential downpour. It isn’t that I hate rain, it’s just the inconvenience it can cause to my “slay for the day” – like I basically had this grand outfit planned in my head but now I have to change my plans because the weather won’t comply. Bleh. That’s definitely not my favorite type of day.
What made it worse in the past is the fact that I didn’t even own a raincoat and I still don’t own rain boots. I had never found a stylish option that I loved, or something that could truly protect my outfit without any hassle. Oh, and let’s add that it had to be within my budget and portable because I hate carrying a clunky thing around. All this equated to major shopping problems.
But guess what – I had been looking in the wrong places. My search had been solely focused on department stores and even the corner store where you could easily find options. Yet I had no luck. However, when I turned to the small business industry, it was like an aha moment.
What does this moment look like? Well, in my wardrobe, it’s a happier me on rainy days with a portable and high-quality rain poncho in a chic print from November Rain.
